The Wrong Type Of Victims: UMass Boston's Chancellor of Color Announces "The 1965 Project" on October 7
Inspired by the luminary Nikole Hannah-Jones. Was there anything else he was supposed to mention on that day?

Buenos Días Mi Comunidad,
Today, October 7, is not any ordinary day. As you know, we are little less than a month away from our beautiful fourth annual celebration of Black Lives Matter Day. I am excited to continue to share more with you about this día especial!
Was there something else that we needed to commemorate today? ¡Dios mío! How could it be? During this holiest time of the year the Jewish people couldn't possibly have anything else on their minds, right? No, I don’t mean the… ¿Cómo se llama?… Rosh Hashanah which I forgot to mention again. Our yarmulke-clad hermanitos, or "occupiers" as our most profound scholars would prefer to refer to them, must be focused on this day of October 7 on the beauty of BLM Day. My support as UMass Boston's preeminent Chancellor of Color is important to some of our most important groups, sí, but I cannot make room for everyone!
On the topic of illegally occupying genociders - I mean, kind and caring people - it is with great excitement that I share with you my newest initiative: The 1965 Project. Inspired by the heroic luminary Nikole Hanah-Jones, with whom I had the immense pleasure of schmoozing recently, this project seeks to set the record straight on UMass Boston's history of ocupación! It's time to remind everyone that before we moved to our current location in 1974, it was in 1965 when we started to occupy buildings in Boston. Later we colonized our current land from the local cows that called this place home. The project seeks to reframe the history of the university in the context of it literally being built atop a cow pasture. I am confident my fellow comrades will help me share this story so that we can truly begin to talk about reparations for the harm you have caused, to both the citizens of Boston and to the Columbia Point cows. It’s not about me, of course. My ancestors only colonized Latin America. Please be on the lookout for more to come.
Del río al mar!
Marcelo Suárez-Orozco
Chancellor of Color
What happened on October 7th? Am I forgetting something? Let me look down the memory hole.
Love this. He is a walking, talking, cliche. My highlighted parts of his Wiki article. (And he isn't even Mexican. He immigrated from Argentina.) "He created the position of special assistant to the chancellor for Black life... In July 2020, Suárez-Orozco and his wife, Carola, established the George Floyd Honorary Scholarship Fund." One of my favorite books is "Guide to the Perfect Latin American Idiot" (Manual del Perfecto Idiota Latinoamericano) and its sequel "The Return of the Idiot" (El Regreso del Idiota), both of which sum him up. I am confident this guy has never heard of these books. Either that or es un sin vergüenza.
