The University is pleased to announce progress thus far in hiring new tenure-track faculty members through the equity searches that have been successfully completed. These searches have generated 25 talented diverse individuals of plural identities. We continue to emphasize the importance of diversifying our faculty, and I am pleased to report that we have made further progress with these searches. Among the 25 new colleagues joining us in the future are individuals who represent diverse racial, sexual and ethnic backgrounds including five Black, four Hispanic, six Queer, two asexual/graysexual folx, and eight white folx; 15 of the 25 identify as female and one identifies as a cat emoji. This is a very equitable group of new colleagues, each of whom brings a strong record of scholarly productivity intersectional identities and further potential, a dedication to educating indoctrinating students, and enthusiasm for the brand new social justice mission of UMass Boston. I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the search committees, dean’s offices, and many others in contributing toward this successful enrichment of the talented diverse pool of faculty on our campus.
