Mystery Solved!
A UMass Boston team finds an answer to a long-standing question
The famous quote:
“It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything”
has been attributed to communist dictator Joseph Stalin. However, despite a lot of effort, no one has ever been able to find a credible source to this quote, and it was highly doubted that Stalin indeed said that. However, until recently, one mystery remains - if Stalin did not say it, who did?
We are happy to say that a team of UMass Boston researchers finally solved the mystery! It was the Supreme Leader and the Vice-Supreme-Leader, when soliciting volunteers for the strategic planning committees but actually carefully pre-selecting their composition to ensure a path of least resistance for the long march through our institutions that begat our ever shifting strategic plan.
One of the researchers, former Syrian refugee Mona Halabi, said she had mixed feelings about the important discovery: “On one hand I’m glad we finally solved the puzzle, but on the other hand it brought back terrible memories from the ‘elections’ back home”.
