Down with the Bronx High School of Science
Eric Adams was indicted on September 26. Here is how we we see it.
New York Mayor Eric Adams was indicted on September 26, 2024 for soliciting illegal campaign contributions and accepting offers of free air travel and free, or discounted, luxury hotel stays from Turkish nationals. In return, he, allegedly, helped to bypass several items of fire code when the new building for the Turkish embassy was constructed. He denies the accusations wholesale.
We do not know the whole truth, not as of yet.
One thing is clear, however - Adams fell out of grace with the progressive establishment for going against the approved narrative. This happened because he belongs to the extinct breed of politicians with a human heart and some common sense.
Adams rejected the performative and equally unconstitutional doctrine of “equity of outcomes” in favor of the humanistic principle of “equality of access” at the same time when the establishment began its rather successful campaign to abolish the standardized admission tests for schools for the gifted and talented. Adams saved the New York’s SHSAT test for specialized high schools (with the celebrated Bronx High School of Science among them). He proposed (and since then followed his proposal) to
provide free preparatory services for every student who wants to take the SHSAT but faces economic hardship
and to
[create] new borough-based specialized high schools by recommending five such schools be created, one in each borough.
In other words, he committed the unforgivable sin: He took real, measurable and effective steps to help talented but underserved students achieve high standards, instead of lowering the standards in the name of “equity”, or rather bigotry of low expectations.
In the era of “defunding the police,” “decriminalizing crime,” and “normalizing homelessness,” Adams pledged to maintain public order. He didn’t forget his pledge. Here are only some examples: in March 2022, to tackle the uptake in violent crime, including against police officers, he revived a police unit made up of plainclothes officers; in February 2022, Adams directed the police and mental health professionals to relocate the homeless who sleep in the subway to shelters and mental health facilities; in November 2022, after a string of high-profile crimes involving homeless people, Mayor Eric Adams announced a push to move people with severe, untreated mental illness from the streets to mental hospitals, against their will.
Adams didn’t forget about Mercy and Justice to the migrants who arrived and to the locals who were already here, respectively. According to Wikipedia
In July 2023, during the New York City migrant housing crisis, Adams argued that New York City was running out of room and resources to provide for the influx of roughly 100,000 migrants from the southern border. He said, "Our cup has basically runneth over. We have no more room in the city."
And this is what provided the final brick in the wall between him and the White House and the elites in general. Coincidentally, the indictment came a year after.
According to The New York Times,
three years [after Adams’s election], the flurry of enthusiasm [at the time of the election] looks more like an expression of intraparty ideological conflict, with Adams celebrated less because he could bring about genuine policy progress than because he seemed well suited — and outwardly committed — to disarming and disowning the party’s activist flank.
The same article praises the fearless slayer of “white problems” Boston Mayor Wu as a party-preferred alternative.
Unsurprisingly, if Mayor Adams is convicted, New York will become indistinct from the rest of the country:
[E]very communist progressive they [Democrats] have lined up to take his place would be 10 times worse.
—Matt Antar, the finance chairman of the New York Young Republicans Club, The New York Times, September 25, 2024
And the Bronx High School of Science will become a shadow of its former self.
We wish the Mayor the bestest of luck.
So being reasonable and having common sense is the ultimate sin if you are the Left. How do normal black people even have a chance? This is the ultimate in bigotry and totalitarianism.
Mayor Adams remarks about the celebration of October 7th on the streets of NY was the inspiation for John Ondrasik's song, OK we are not OK. https://www.facebook.com/fiveforfighting/posts/pfbid0DdytfTDhkMQD2DTWg2qjAzHb1RhbS8CmeW4eRZLdATYadHecE1vamZRjqm411W3el I want to thank John Ondrasik here for his outspokeness in fighting antisemitism.
